Learn How To Make Your Bedroom Look Better Than Ever

Many people make the mistake of thinking that it is difficult to create a modern look in their home. They assume that they need to be an interior designer or have experience to create a stylish look on their own. That is not the case at all. You can create a stylish and unique look in your home with nothing more than some wallpaper and polyurethane gel. Use the following guide to learn how to update the look of your bedroom quickly and easily.

Choose the Wallpaper

The first thing you have to do is visit a home improvement store and choose the wallpaper you want to use in the room. You will only be using the paper on one wall in the room to create an accent wall. Choose a print or color that is bright and eye-catching to ensure that you are able to make as much of a visual impact as you can. You want to get the wallpaper that is self-adhesive, as well to cut down on the time it takes to paste the paper to the wall.

Wallpaper the Wall

Measure your wall from the ceiling to the bottom baseboard. Measure the wallpaper to the exact length of the wall and cut it accordingly. Dip the paper in a tub of water, allow the excess water to drip off of the paper as you pull it out of the water, and then spread it against the wall and smooth it out carefully. You want to make sure there are no wrinkles or bubbles when you are finished. Repeat the process until the accent wall is complete.

Wallpaper Your Dressers

Next, remove the drawers to your dressers and use a screwdriver to remove any screws holding the knobs into place. Measure the drawer fronts and cut wallpaper to fit onto them perfectly. Lightly sand the drawers with 80-grit sandpaper to make the wallpaper stick to them better. Wet the paper and spread it onto the front of the drawers the same way you hung the paper on the wall. Allow the paper to dry and then place the knobs back on the drawers and insert the drawers into the dresser. Repeat the process with any other dressers you plan to use in the room.

Situate the dressers against the wall so that the dressers are located on a different wall than the accent wall. This will tie the look together and create a designer look for a small investment. For other decorating ideas, talk to a company like Mylroie Painting Inc.
